Two keys at once? Yes, please.
If you are currently learning keys – which I assume – then it’s surely fantastic to be able to learn two keys at once. Good news: With Gb Major and F# Major, you can do exactly that. How?
Both keys have exactly the same notes on the piano. The only difference is the note names. F# Major has the notes:
F# – G# – A# – B – C# – D# – E# – F#
Gb Major has the notes:
Gb – Ab – Bb – Cb – Db – Eb – F – Gb
These are the same notes. The only difference is that they are indicated by sharps in F# Major. In Gb Major, however, the notes have flats.
For example: E# is the same note as F.
But enough of that. What’s important for you to know is: Gb Major and F# Major have the same notes. One is simply a flat key, and the other is a sharp key. That’s it.
Gb Major / F# Major Scale
Let’s briefly discuss the sound of both scales.
If someone were to play both scales for you consecutively on the piano, you would hear two identical scales. Because: The notes of Gb Major and F# Major are the same. Although both scales have different key signatures (F#, C#, G#, D#, A#, E#) – (Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Cb), they represent the same keys on the piano.
But how do you play these two keys now?
For both the Gb Major scale and the F# Major scale, you need all five black keys. Phew, that sounds difficult. But the advantage is: If you really need all the black keys, you can’t go far wrong.
Sheet music
Here you can see the notes of the Gb Major scale.
The notes are listed for your general understanding. But you won’t need them in the future. Once you have worked through this article, you will play Gb Major and F# Major intuitively correctly.
Piano keyboard with fingering
Both the Gb Major and F# Major scales start on a black key. And because we never play a black key with the thumb, we start with the second finger – our ring finger. The fingering is:
2 – 3 – 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 1 – 2

How to play every song on the piano
Do you want to learn to play your favorite songs on the piano just like that? Without sheet music, without tutorials and without learning apps? In your own personal version?
Or do you simply want to spontaneously improvise your musical ideas on the piano? For yourself alone or in front of an audience?

Play Piano by Intuition
Because intuitive piano playing doesn’t require sheet music and classical theory, you learn it as quickly as you learned to speak as a child.
While for others the piano remains a “typewriter for notes”, you understand its tones and which combinations always sound right. You can express yourself through the piano – like a small child who has just learned to speak.
In future, you will be able to rely on your intuition in any situation: You will become immune to wrong notes because you will see the right keys in your mind’s eye even before you press them.
In my free workshop I will show you how it works.
