When I hear B minor, I automatically think of Johann Sebastian Bach. The musical genius produced a masterpiece in his final years: The Mass in B minor. It remains one of the most significant sacred compositions to this day.
Bach’s Mass in B minor might be one reason why you’re studying the key of B minor. But I rather believe you’re here because you’re currently learning scales and chords on the piano. And now it’s B minor’s turn.
I admire your discipline. And I won’t disappoint you. Because you’ve come to the right place. In this post, I’ll show you the B minor scale with appropriate fingering, as well as the B minor root chord along with its inversions, and of course, the B minor sheet music.
B minor Scale
Sheet music
To begin: I myself have been passionately playing the piano for many, many years. My life has revolved around music since childhood. But what I only realized after about two decades on this beautiful Earth: Music without sheet music is so much more fun.
Music without sheet music? Yep. I’m talking about intuitive piano playing. That doesn’t require sheet music. And yet, with this technique, you can play any of your favorite songs. You’ll find out how at the end of this post.
Nevertheless, I’ll show you the sheet music for the B minor scale here. They can help you develop an initial understanding of the scale. However, over time, they will lose their importance for you.
Because: If you practice regularly and internalize the notes and fingering of B minor, you won’t need sheet music anymore.
Piano keyboard with fingering
The B minor scale requires two black keys: C-sharp and F-sharp. Overall, it consists of the following notes:
B – C# – D – E – F# – G – A – B
Knowing the notes is one thing. What you’re probably eager for now: the B minor fingering. I’ll show you that now.
Good news. For the B minor scale, the standard fingering is sufficient. So you play with these fingers:
1 – 2 – 3 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5
Simple, right?

How to play every song on the piano
Do you want to play your favorite songs on the piano just like that? Without sheet music, without tutorials and without learning apps? In your own personal version?
Or do you simply want to spontaneously improvise your musical ideas on the piano? For yourself alone or in front of an audience?

Play Piano by Intuition
Because intuitive piano playing doesn’t require sheet music and classical theory, you’ll learn it as quickly as you learned to speak as a child.
While for others the piano remains a “typewriter for notes”, you understand its tones and which combinations always sound right. You can express yourself through the piano – like a small child who has just learned to speak.
In future, you will be able to rely on your intuition in any situation: You will become immune to wrong notes because you will see the right keys in your mind’s eye even before you press them.
In my free workshop I will show you how it works.
